Corby Amateur Boxing Club

Corby Boxing Gym is also the home of Corby Amateur Boxing Club which was founded 12 years ago by Head Coach, Chairperson and Match Maker John Mulheron.  Corby Amateur Boxing Club holds 3 training sessions per week and the Carded Boxers (these are boxers who are registered to box competitively with England Boxing) attend regional training squad sessions, go to other local boxing clubs for sparring practice and take part in Boxing Shows and competitions.

Notable successes for the club have been; Simon Barclay 2 times ABA English champion at 2 different weights, Cruiser and Heavy Weight, Tri-Nations champion and boxed for England internationally.  Simon now boxes professionally and is still involved with the club giving advice and assisting with training.   Another star of Corby Amateur Boxing Club is Urdi Cupi, who was the North of England and Midlands Champion and won the Central Area Belt.  Urdi also made it to the England ABA finals.

Corby Amateur Boxing Club encourages any boxers or members of the club who want to develop their boxing coaching skills and supports them to take England Boxing Coaching courses and First Aid certificates.

John Mulheron (Head Coach) teaches boxing at Satellite Boxing clubs in Lodge Park School and Kingswood School in Corby.  He also teaches boxing at the Isebrook School SEN Cognition and Learning College in Kettering.  In 2016 Corby Amateur Boxing Club was voted the best Satellite Club in the East Midlands for working with pupils who had been excluded from school at Kingswood and John Mulheron has won Corby Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012.
